About the Project
Washington Street is a highly traveled corridor for both vehicles and pedestrians. Ther are two vehicle travel lanes in each direction with sidewalks on each side. The outside lanes allow parking during certain times of day. As part of this project, the roadway and curbs will be reconstructed with full-depth asphalt pavement and concrete curb and gutter. A new 12” watermain and services will also be installed. The sidewalk areas will be upgraded to the City streetscape standard and have a minimum clear width of 6’ of concrete sidewalks, decorative pavers at the back of curb, street furniture, and planters in various locations. The street lights will also be replaced to the current standard to provide both roadway and pedestrian lighting. Throughout construction, at least one lane in each direction of travel will be open, with temporary closures directed by flaggers during off peak travel hours. Pedestrians will be provided temporary routes through the corridor and temporary ramps to doorways, allowing all businesses to remain open and accessible. Please be safe when driving and walking through the corridor – take note of signs and construction activities as the contractor works quickly and efficiently to get the corridor work completed. We thank you for your patience while we improve the future experience for everyone along Washington Street!
